About Y42 Flotsam

Flotsam was built in 1963 by John Linderman and his son Jim at Alameda Boat Works in Alameda, California — the third Yankee the Linderman family built, and the best. Each boat incorporated lessons from the last, and by the time they built Flotsam, they knew exactly what they were doing. John used laminated frames and all bronze fastenings, and the result speaks for itself: Flotsam has never broken a frame and has never needed restoration. It remains in exceptional condition.

Flotsam was also the boat that the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding studied when building Y44 Gemini in 2010, looking to carry its innovations forward into the newest Yankee.
