About Y40 Tarfon

This photo shows Tarfun's launching, 1956.

Tarfon aka Tarfun was built in 1956 by John Linderman and his sons while John was working at the Stone Boatyard in Alameda, California — one of three Yankees the Linderman family built, each an improvement on the last.

In the 1980s, Tarfon was shipped to Seattle, where it was restored — new frames and a fiberglass deck, though inconveniently, not in that order. For years, it raced for years against Y36 Venture and Y38 Yankee Clipper. It has since moved with its owners to Port Townsend, Washington, where it is still sailing and in excellent condition.
