Hi, I started sailing Yankees Y36 and Y38 at the Center for Wooden Boats in 1994. I bought Y36 Venture in 2000, and built the first version of this website in 2002. I did a lot of work to restore Venture but it was too far gone, so I commissioned the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding to build a new boat, Y44 Gemini. We launched Gemini in 2010, and I was amazed that it sailed so much better than my first Yankee, which was already the best boat I had ever sailed. In 2011, I wrote an article about the YOD class and the construction of Gemini for WoodenBoat Magazine. Meanwhile, the YOD website has been through several iterations and is now undergoing a major update in spring 2026. My goal for this website is to archive the histories and photos of all the Yankees, and to connect YOD owners and sailors with each other.
