CONSTRUCTION
PLANKING: Single Philippine and Honduras mahogany, finished 3/4" thick.
FASTENINGS: Bronze throughout.
FRAMES: Oak 1" x 1" spaced on 8" centers. Not tapered. Frames to be fastened to floor timbers with three 1/4" dia. bolts set up with nuts on washers in each frame.
DECK BEAMS: Of oak 1" x 7/8" on every frame.
CLAMPS: Oregon pine.
KEELSON: Mahogany, oak or suitable hardwood.
STEM: Mahogany, oak or suitable hardwood.
FLOOR TIMBERS: Of oak 1" thick. Three times diameter of keel bolts in way of keel bolts.
DECKS: Pine or fir T and G, not less than 5/8" thick, or 1/2" Weldwood plywood. Decks to be covered with 6 oz. canvas laid in paint or glue.
TRIM: Cockpit coaming and trunk cabin sides, hatch and slides, covering board and toe rail of mahogany, butternut or teak.
TRANSOM: Single or triple ply, 3/4" thickness. Single ply of oak, mahogany or philippine. Triple plied with outer skin of mahogany or philippine.
KEEL: To be of lead. All keels must be cast from a mold approved by the Association, and must be weighed by a designated official and have weight in lbs. stamped on starboard side at section No. 5, near top of keel, in letters not less than 3/4" high. Keels shall not weigh less than 2525 lbs. or more than 2550 lbs. before pockets for bolts heads are filled.
RUDDER: Rudder blade of Honduras or African mahogany, oak or teak. Rudder post 1 1/8" diam. solid bronze. Pintles and tiller fittings to be standard pattern.
BULKHEADS: Two watertight bulkheads of 3/8" Weldwood plywood (or equal), one forward, one aft.
SPARS: Of Sitka spruce. Masts to weigh not less than 75 lbs. bare, and balancing (bare) not less than 40% of length from heel. Top of mast shall not be over 35' 8" from deck. Center pins of sheave shall be 5" from top of boom nearer than 2' 2 1/2" to deck from mast. Boom shall be 13' 6" long measured from after side of mast to end of boom.
SAILS: Area approximately 312 square feet. All sails, including spinnaker, to be cut according to plans of the Yankee One-Design Association dated March 11, 1940.
Mainsails to have wire luff rope. The hoist of the mainsail at no time to exceed 33' 2 1/2". Mainsail not to extend beyond the outer end of the boom. Mainsail not to have more than four battens, the top and bottom not to exceed 24", -- and the two middle ones not to exceed 30". Mainsail and Working Jib must be made of canvas no lighter than 5 oz. If made of nylon, 5.3 oz. for Mainsail and Working Jib, and 3.7 oz. for Genoa Jib. Spinnaker made of 1.77 oz. duck or 1.2 oz. nylon.
DISPLACEMENT: Yankee One-Design boat displacement is 4,775 lbs.
