Sites of Interest
From the thousands of sailing links on the web -- here's a short, biased list of some favorites.
Museums
| | Center For Wooden Boats: A great place to visit, if you're in Seattle. Venture (Yankee No. 36) is on loan here. Host of the Annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival during the July 4th holiday weekend.
| | Herreshoff Marine Museum: History of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Co., including the J-boat era. Also with the America's Cup home page.
| | Wooden Boat Foundation: In Port Townsend, WA. Host of the annual Wooden Boat Festival in early September, generally with a Yankee or two in attendance.
Other Sailboats
| | Friendship Sloop Society: Sloop No. 213, Amie, is on loan to the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle, along with Yankee Venture.
| | Yankee 30: This is the "other" Yankee class, a fiberglass boat designed by Sparkman & Stephens in the early 70's. Although out of production for a quarter century, the Yankee 30 is still a highly desirable sailboat, with a loyal and enthusiastic following. It's in no way related to the wooden Yankee One Design class.
