Sirocco 21

Sirocco
Tom Tucker with Sirocco
Sirocco is Yankee No. 21. She was built in 1947 by the Britt Brothers, in Saugus MA. She was shipped (in 1947) to Cleveland, with six other Yankees, to form the Cleveland fleet, and raced on Lake Erie in the late 40's and 50's. In the summer series of 1952, Sirocco placed second in every race.

In 1985, Sirocco was brought to Washington state by Doug Warren, who did substancial restoration, but never quite got the boat in the water. In 1998, Sirocco was given to Tom Tucker, who is now completing the restoration in Port Townsend.

Summer Girl, Yankee No. 22, was another boat in the Cleveland fleet. She was scrapped for parts sometime in (or before) 1985. Several of her winches, sails, and assorted hardware are being used to restore Sirocco.
